Wheelchairs allow disabled persons and the elderly to be mobile. There are many wheelchairs available on the market these days, so in order to get one that will fit the needs of the user, he or she has to have ample information about the product.
Thankfully we now have the Internet to refer to if we want more information about a certain item. Choosing the right wheelchair for a loved one, or for yourself, is important since it has to meet your requirements and it also has to be comfortable.
The mobility industry thus far has designed and made wheelchairs that will meet the demands and needs of different customers, so expect to actually get a wheelchair that will work for you.
The article will focus on Drive Medical’s BLS18FBD-ELR Blue Streak Wheelchair. We will discuss if the chair is worth buying and will also discuss user/reviewer comments after using this wheelchair.

One of the good things about the BLS18FBD-ELR Blue Streak Wheelchair from Drive Medical is that if the user wants to raise the armrests and put them at the rear, it can be done with a mere push of a button.
It makes the whole transfer procedure easier, and in our opinion, is actually better than those lighter transport wheelchair types. You can raise the armrest then slide into a cubicle without having your companion help you in sitting down and standing up.
The unit is also foldable and it can be unfolded in a fast and simple manner. However, if you have issues locking the item, you can just tip it moderately to the side and it will unlock within seconds.
While the chair is heavy to be lifted into a vehicle, it can be fitted into a vehicle’s backseat. Taking it out can be a tad difficult but it can still be done.
The unit was also simple and easy to maneuver and users can put a fast turn back on its wheels and it will stop just like that. It has an excellent turning radius and the rider won’t have to scurry themselves across the floor by pushing their feet and grasping onto the nearest wall.
The brakes for the item were also excellent and the user or their companions can help in tightening the brakes according to their preferences. At this point, though, we have yet to test this item in uphill locations.
The item also includes a handy Allen wrench which makes tightening any component of the wheelchair fast and easy. The chair also includes a convenient pocket which is stitched on the back.
The rider can put items he or she does not frequently need into that pocket. It is another point, however minor, that customers who were satisfied with the product appreciated.
The wheelchair could have been a bit lighter. It has a total weight of 40 pounds so this one is heavy. There were also customers who complained that the model was a bit short. Lastly, several customers complained about the handlebars since it does not extend as far as the handlebars on transport wheelchairs.
Drive Medical’s BLS18FBD-ELR Blue Streak Wheelchair is something that the disabled or elderly will appreciate—that is if they do not mind its weight.
If you are looking for an independent wheelchair that has an excellent turning radius and is fast and easy to manage, then this model requires your interest. Check it out and who knows, maybe you will love it as well.
